What’s really in the ground beneath our feet? In this hands-on homeschool lesson, students will explore soil composition by handling and comparing sand, clay, silt, and loam. We’ll investigate how each type feels, holds water, and supports plant growth.
Students will also learn about the importance of composting, explore worm farms, and discover how decomposers help create healthy soil. To finish, each student will create a clay pinch pot to take home—connecting soil science with creativity. Families will receive multidisciplinary extensions to continue the learning at home.
